Arbutus rendering

Welcome to Arbutus
A New Heart for the Neighbourhood

The current Arbutus Shopping Centre site is undergoing a redesign. The new development is planned to be a complete community. It will have a broad mix of uses that will allow people to enjoy the services and amenities of the neighbourhood without having to drive anywhere. Uses will include local shops and services, coffee shops, a restaurant, Safeway, a liquor store, a financial institution, offices such as medical/dental, a studio, commercial space and storage. A mix of housing types and densities will be provided that will include housing for senior citizens, rental housing units and a variety of market condominium units from townhouses to rooftop apartments. Arbutus exceeds the City requirement that 20% of the housing units be affordable through a mix of seniors and rental housing.

Community Amenities

Green Design

The new development will be built to a high level of environmental sustainability. We are exploring a district energy system, alternative transportation strategies, stormwater management systems and solid waste diversion. The buildings and public spaces will meet a high standard of architecture and urban design to meet the sustainability requirements and they will become a part of the community.
